Okay, Writers... ya know I love you for all your vision, talent, creativity, and entertaining contributions. However, I gotta ask you to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE thoroughly proofread your submissions before you send them in. I cannot reiterate enough: one of the main reasons for the rejection of a submitted manuscript by any publisher is the writer’s fundamental lack of attention to detail.
I know, I know.... spelling, punctuation, and grammar are such a tedious drag! But please be mindful, nonetheless!
Last but not least: Don’t forget to put your name on any and all attached documents to an email query! You don’t know how many times I find authors have forgotten to put their names on the work they’ve submitted! Then I have to spend hours and hours on a cyber scavenger hunt!
The rest you need to know is listed below:

Here are our submission(s) requirements:
- First, due to the continuing economic downturn and oh-so-slow sales, we are sad to say that we cannot pay for accepted work. However, we do our very best to give writers the platform they need in print, electronic and online formats to showcase their work and get publishing credentials.
- Second, we accept pretty much anything in the way of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, photography, and artwork. We reserve the right to refuse to publish material that we deem unsuitable for our publication.
- Third, we ask all writers to format their submissions accordingly:
- Electronic formats please! If you send us a print copy then we have to retype it in its entirety which is quite labor intensive for us. We will need a SASE to send your print submissions back to you.
- Please use single space with a paragraph indentation of no more than 4 spaces. Do not double space after periods.
- Use font size Calibri 10, if possible (but not critical)
- Fourth, all digital photography, authors’ head shots, and scanned artwork should be sized at a minimum of 200 dpi. 300 dpi is preferred.
- Finally, sometimes we are pretty quick with getting submissions into print, but in the event there should be a delay, we ask that you be patient. Give us time and we will do our best to find a slot for your work in one of our issues as long as it meets our approval.

Bottom line, it is our mission to promote all sorts of burgeoning writers and artists, with our primary focus being on women. We are publishers who believe in giving writers a chance. We understand all to well the hardship of rejections and hope we can ENCOURAGE instead of discourage. (There’s way too much negativity in the world as it is.)
Pay attention to our website to see what sorts of material we are seeking. Our quarterly issues tend to follow seasonal themes while our special issue, TOUGH LIT. focuses crime, mystery, suspense, edge, and “dark” story and poetry.
Above all, keep writing and good luck!
